LEWIS AND CLARK NRD AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO AREA SENIORS

The Lewis and Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD) awarded two Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarships to high school seniors in the 2024-2025 school year. LCNRD provides college scholarship funds to graduates who intend to pursue an agricultural-related career, with the hope that they will return and contribute to their local communities and the protection and conservation of our natural resources.
The 2025 recipients of the Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarship are:
-
Kora Poppe, Bloomfield High School, will be studying Diversified Agriculture at Northeast Community College. Kora is the daughter of Troy and Paige Poppe of Bloomfield.
-
Benjamin Kleinschmidt, Cedar Catholic High School, will be studying Agricultural Science at South Dakota State University. Ben is the son of John and Jennifer Kleinschmidt of Hartington.
Recipients are presented with a $1,000 scholarship to use towards tuition and fees at the college of their choice for an agriculture-related course of study.
The Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarship is named after two outstanding LCNRD directors who served their communities and believed in providing educational opportunities to local youth to encourage natural resource awareness. Warren Patefield, from Laurel, was a local, state, and national leader in conservation. Ken Green, from Allen, was a man of quiet dignity who worked tirelessly on resource projects in the community.
