2024 NACD POSTER CONTEST WINNERS!

Thank you to all who participated in the 2024 National Association of Conservation District (NACD) Poster Contest sponsored by Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD). Two schools, Holy Trinity Elementary and Wynot Public Schools, participated. There were 36 entries in the 2nd through 3rd grade competition level, 45 for the 4th through 6th grade competition level, one for 7th through 9th grade, and one for the Digital Media Poster Contest.

The students did a great job visually describing the theme “May the Forest Be With You Always.” The selection criteria for the posters included conservation message, visual effectiveness, originality, and universal appeal. The posters were judged by LCNRD staff and directors, and winning posters were sent to Lincoln to be considered at the state level, which will take place in December. The state contest winner will then move on to Washington, D.C., for national judging.

This year’s local NACD Poster Contest winners are 3rd grader Elin Haberer (Holy Trinity Elementary), daughter of Cale and Nicole Haberer, 8th grader Kiersten Hans (Wynot Public Schools), daughter of Becky and Jason Hans, for print and digital, and 4th grader Clara Steffen (Holy Trinity Elementary), daughter of Robert and Laura Steffen.

Now is the time to start thinking about and spreading the word about next year’s poster contest. The 2025 Poster Contest theme will be “Home is Where the Habitat Is.” More information can be found at https://www.nacdnet.org/general-resources/stewardship-and-education-materials.
