LEWIS AND CLARK NRD AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO AREA SENIORS
The Lewis and Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD) awarded two Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarships to high school seniors in the 2022-2023 school year. LCNRD provides college scholarship funds to graduates who intend to pursue an agricultural related career in hopes that they will return and contribute to local communities and to the protection and conservation of our natural resources.
The 2023 recipients of the Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarship are:
- Lane Heimes, Hartington-Newcastle High School, will be studying Agronomy at South Dakota State University. Lane is the son of Bill and Darla Heimes of Hartington.
- Megan Tramp, Crofton Community School, will be studying Wildlife and Fisheries Science at South Dakota State University. Megan is the daughter of Lonnie and Beth Tramp of Crofton.
Scholarship recipients are presented a $1000 scholarship to use towards tuition and fees at the college of their choice towards an agriculture related course of study.
The Patefield-Green Memorial Scholarship is named after two outstanding LCNRD directors who served their communities and believed in providing educational opportunities to local youth to encourage natural resource awareness. Warren Patefield was from Laurel and was a local, state, and national conservation leader. Ken Green resided in Allen and was a man of quiet dignity who worked tirelessly on resource projects in the community.
