LCNRD WELCOMES THE NEW SUBDISTRICT 5 DIRECTOR TO THE BOARD
Eleven elected directors guide the Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District (LCNRD) activities. Directors represent five subdistricts, with two directors serving from each subdistrict and one serving at-large. Directors are elected by the voters living within each subdistrict and serve four-year terms, with 5 to 6 seats up for election every two years of the term.
One of the two Subdistrict 5 seats was vacated by the resignation of Leroy Hoesing, who served since 1993. The vacant seat has been filled by the appointment of Carl Lamb, a resident of rural Allen, at the January Board of Directors meeting. Lamb took the oath of office on February 2nd and will be on the ballot for the November election for the last two years of the term.
Carl Lamb farms in Dixon County around the Powder Creek Wildlife Management Area, Ponca, Allen, and into Dakota County. Lamb runs a cow-calf operation and owns a heavy earth-moving equipment construction company. Through his construction business, Lamb has worked with many of the flood prevention structures within the Aowa Creek Watershed.
Lamb sees the importance of land and water conservation and feels that being a good steward of the land is the best way to keep “our little piece of earth healthy and productive.” He believes in best management practices such as cover crops, no-till, and pasture rehabilitation. “Helping promote these best management practices is another good way to be a steward of the land,” says Lamb.
